1440p resolution

With a pixel count of 2560 x 1440, 1440p is also known as QHD (quad high definition) or WQHD (wide quad high definition). Another common name for this resolution is 2K.

How many pixels a display has in a width-by-height format is explained by its resolution. A display’s image quality should be sharper the more pixels it contains. Because it provides four times the definition of conventional HD, or 720p (1280 x 720 resolution), QHD resolution derives its name.

Compared to Full HD (FHD), often known as 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080) versions, which are much more widespread and less expensive, QHD panels are noticeably sharper.

When looking for a PC monitor, this greater resolution also makes it more possible to view screens larger than 27 inches without noticing individual pixels. On laptops, however, a QHD screen uses more battery life than an FHD one.

Smartphones and laptops are the devices with 1440p resolutions most frequently found. It’s one of the most widely used resolutions for video games. Fortunately, 1440p laptop prices are reasonable.

The majority of game consoles these days use 1440p. For instance, 4K and 1440p are now more compatible with the Xbox One S and PS4 Pro.

Cell phones with QHD resolution are also frequently seen since they improve the quality of small photos by increasing pixel density. A few cameras, such as the useful GoPro cameras, also have QHD resolution.

1440p was invented when?

2010 saw the introduction of 1440p computer displays to users. That year saw the arrival of Dell’s Ultrasharp U2711, a WQHD (Wide Quad HD) monitor featuring a 1440p screen. Subsequently, Apple unveiled its 27-inch LED cinema display, which has a resolution of 2560 x 1440.

Microsoft said in September 2020 that the Xbox Series S would be able to run at 120 frames per second in QHD quality.

By 2020, there will be a lot of video cards that support QHD resolution, and it will have grown in popularity among computer gamers. Furthermore, a number of computer makers unveiled reasonably priced 1440p gaming laptops at the beginning of 2021.
